Leader of the Council Cllr Peray Ahmet joined Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families Cllr Zena Brabazon, Director of Children Services Ann Graham, and senior members of the HLP team joined the Minister for School Standards for a tour of the site in Wood Green.

During the visit, Georgia Gould met with students and staff who shared their personal experiences of learning at HLP.

They highlighted the strength of the curriculum, the supportive environment, and the positive impact the provision has had on their educational journeys.

Minister Gould also held discussions with Headteacher Gerry Robinson and leaders from across Haringey’s alternative provision network. These conversations offered valuable insight into the essential role alternative provision plays in supporting young people, ensuring they remain engaged in education, and helping them achieve positive outcomes.

Cllr Zena Brabazon, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, said:

“Haringey Learning Partnership is a vital part of our education landscape. The dedication of staff and the resilience of students shine through in everything they do.

“It was wonderful to welcome Minister Gould and showcase the important impact this provision has on young people’s lives and the difference it makes every single day.”

The visit formed part of the Government’s national listening campaign on special educational needs and disabilities. It was arranged in collaboration with The Difference, an organisation focused on reducing school exclusions.

Haringey Learning Partnership plays a central role in the borough’s approach to inclusion and preventing exclusions, aligning closely with the wider SEND agenda and the priorities expected to be reflected in the forthcoming Schools White Paper.

Haringey Learning Partnership is a council owned entity which continues to be recognised for its commitment to providing high quality, inclusive education tailored to the needs of its students. Minister Gould’s visit underscored the importance of this work and the dedication of the staff who deliver it.
