The half-term holidays are well underway in Haringey, with children and young people enjoying free and fun activities right across the borough.

There are a host of different events in our February Half-Term Fun Booklet to help Haringey carers/parents keep children of all ages and abilities engaged and entertained throughout this week.

In order to ensure our activities and events are as accessible and inclusive as possible too, we’ve colour coded them (Blue, Green or Yellow) to show what level of support our providers can offer if required. If you are unsure, please contact the provider for further information.

Youngsters can get involved in a variety of activities, disciplines and sports, including basketball, dance, football, non-contact kickboxing, multi-sports, netball, rollerskating, street gym exercises and tennis.

There’s football for children aged 8+ with 2TR Football at Hartington Park and Chestnuts Park, where those aged five to 11 can also practise their tennis skills with Access to Sports instead.

Access to Sports are also running tennis sessions in Down Lane Park (5-11 years) Downhills Park (5-11 years), Finsbury Park (5-16 years) and Priory Park (5-11 years) during this school break, while there’s a multi-sports programme/sports academy-style set-up over on the athletics track and ball courts in Finsbury Park as well (8-9 years, 10-11 years & 12-16 years respectively).

There’s basketball for those aged 11+at Ducketts Common, where experienced coaches will lead sessions focused on skill-building, gameplay improvement and fun 3v3 matches. All abilities are welcome to attend these free sessions.

If football is more your thing, there are plenty of places to play the beautiful game, including: Down Lane Park (with Chettle Court Rangers Youth Football Club, 5-14 years), Frederick Knight Sports Ground (5-16 years), Mulberry Academy Woodside (5-15 years) and New River Leisure Centre (8-15 years).

Eagles United Women’s FC and Thru Life are also offering women and girls football training and girls-only football and fitness over this school break.

Those aged under-16 can benefit from our ‘Kids for a Quid’ promotion and go swimming at either Park Road Leisure Centre (excluding the Lido) and Tottenham Green Leisure Centre for just £1 (*Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult).

There’s also fantastic provision at our dedicated youth centres. At Bruce Grove Youth Space, young people can participate in badminton, basketball, bike building, boxing, calisthenics, chess, cooking, football, gardening, homework club, martial arts, music technology, PlayStation, podcasting, pool and table tennis.

Meanwhile, over at Project 2020 on the ground floor of Kenneth Robbins House in Northumberland Park, there will be arts and crafts, calisthenics, cooking club, fun quizzes, gaming, pool, table tennis and an UNO tournament.

Bruce Castle Museum are hosting Islamic Patterns family workshops with artist and educator Samira Mian that are suitable for children aged 7 and above on Wednesday 18 February and Thursday 19 February (1:30pm-4:30pm). Younger siblings are welcome to join.

You can also find out about the hidden heritage of Tottenham and explore a local museum in a Haringey park on the banks of the River Lea during the Markfield Beam Engine and Museum Open Day on Sunday 22 February (10am-3:30pm).

Activities are available across the borough and, while many are free, some may charge a fee.

Drop-in attendance is welcome for most events, but some require pre-registration to secure a spot. Be sure to check the activity details and contact the right person or organisation.

Keep an eye on the ‘What’s On?’ calendar, which lists all activities and events for children and young people by category, date range, price range and venue. Check back often as new events are added on a regular basis.
