"In light of the military action, civilian casualties and heightened instability in the Middle East over the weekend, our thoughts are with all those in our community who may have friends and family in the region and will be especially anxious at this time.

"Haringey is a proudly diverse borough, and moments of international crisis can have a profound emotional impact on our residents. At times like these, it is more important than ever that we support one another, and uphold the values of respect, understanding and unity that define us.

"We are working closely with our community leaders, community and faith groups to ensure Haringey remains a place where everyone feels safe and is safe.

“Today we stand as one community united in the hope of a peaceful future.”

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office will continue to provide the latest travel information for British nationals affected by the situation in the Middle East.
