Love Lane play area improvements
Residents on the Love Lane Estate have been clear that they want to see improvements to the outdoor play area outside Charles House. Play is an important part of every child’s development and essential to their health and happiness.
Work is starting on the week of 4 March 2024 and the play area will be closed to the public. The improvement works will be carried out by specialist contractor, HAGS. The new play area will be open and ready for play in April 2024.
What will improve
In the new play area, young people will be able to enjoy:
- new swings including a basket swing
- viper rope swings
- little and large slides
- sensory play panels
- carousel spinner
- floor designs
- new benches
- multi deck play equipment
- soft, child-friendly flooring
This new play area will be a safer and more welcoming space, with equipment catering for children from 2 to 12 years old.

Working together with residents
The design of the play area has been led by resident feedback. Residents visited play areas in Finsbury Park and in Hackney to explore what they would like to see in the new play area on the Love Lane Estate.
Their feedback informed the brief to appoint a design and build contractor to deliver the play area and members of the Love Lane Residents Association took part in the scoring of the from perspective bidders designs.

We will have pictures of the new play area on display for residents to see at our community hub at The Grange, 32 White Hart Lane, N17 8DP over the next few weeks.
