Recycling small electricals

Find out about recycling small electrical devices, including kerbside collection and Bring Banks.

Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled and turned into something new.

Our small electrical recycling initiative – made possible through the support of Material Focus' Electricals Recycling Fund  – aims to make recycling small electrical items more accessible and convenient for Haringey residents.

Kerbside collection service

Residents in low-rise households (not including blocks of flats or flats above shops) can book a home collection of their small electrical items online.

Book a collection

Once you book your collection, put your small electricals in a bag or a box and leave it outside your front door on the morning of your scheduled collection. Please do not leave them on the pavement.

Vapes recycling

As part of the initiative, we encourage residents to recycle their single-use vapes. These devices contain valuable materials like lithium batteries and plastic that can be recovered and recycled. If vapes are thrown in the general bin, they can cause serious fire hazards due to the batteries.

There are several convenient ways to recycle your single-use vapes:

  • take them back to the shop where they were purchased – many retailers now accept used vapes for recycling
  • book a home collection through the small electricals recycling scheme – please note that you can book a collection once you have a significant amount of vapes to recycle (for example, a full plastic carrier bag)
  • use your local Bring Banks for small electricals – see the list of locations on this page
  • visit recycling centres, including those at Western Road and Edmonton EcoPark to safely dispose of vapes along with other recyclable items

Residential estates Bring Banks

Residents living within 3 ‘blocks of flats’ estates have access to Bring Banks specifically designed for small electrical recycling. These Bring Banks provide a convenient drop-off point for residents to recycle their electronic devices.

Bring Bank locations are:

  • Rothbury Walk (car park Waverley Road), Northumberland Park, N17
  • junction of Reedham Close and Jarrow Road, Tottenham Hale, N17
  • outside the Broadwater Farm Community Centre, Adams Road, N17

If you don’t live near a Bring Bank, you can also recycle your small electricals at:

  • Finsbury Park entrance, Endymion Rd, London N4 4NB
  • Cranley Gardens, London N10 3AH
  • 58 Colney Hatch Lane, London N10 1DY
  • Haringey Recycling Centre, Western Road, London N22 6XJ

What you can recycle

These items can be recycled at Bring Banks or when booking a kerbside collection:

  • radios
  • hair dryers
  • kettles
  • computer keyboards
  • electric toothbrushes
  • mobile phones
  • chargers
  • vapes and e-cigarettes
  • anything with a plug or a battery

The bring bank chute is 600mm wide by 230mm high by 400mm deep. Please do not try to put in items larger than the chute.
