More Than Mentors is an Early Action programme that aims to prevent future mental health issues in young people through peer mentoring.
It supports students who show early signs of mental health needs, such as depression, stress, and anxiety, by building emotional resilience and self-confidence, improving school attendance and attainment, and offering a preventative approach to mental health and emotional distress.
Programme Offerings:
- For Mentors: Young people aged 11 to 20 receive 2-day/5-session training as peer mentors, with the opportunity to earn a National Open College Network (NOCN) Level 2 Award in Peer Mentoring. Mentors apply their skills, receive specialist supervision, and further develop leadership skills.
- For Mentees: Young people aged 11 to 16 meet with a mentor in a safe, supported setting for up to 10 sessions to build strengths and set future goals.
- For Schools and Community Groups: the programme supports work with young people and offers a training-the-trainers programme to ensure sustainability.
