Walk Zones

Part of: School journeys

Actively travelling to school is proven to help improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families. We have created a bespoke Walk Zone map for every school in Haringey.

These maps have circles showing walking areas of 5, 10 and 20 minutes around your child's school. They can help your family by increasing daily activity, which in turn improves fitness, stamina and resilience.

Walking to school also helps your child practice their road safety skills – stop, look, listen and think – and also improves knowledge of the area they live in.

Walking to school is often quicker than driving, which in turn reduces congestion, pollution and improves road safety as there are fewer vehicles on the road.

See the Living Streets report for more information (PDF, 48 pages, 1.5MB).
