Parenting Programme: Incredible Years – school age programme at Muswell Hill Family Hub

A course for parents who want to learn how to get the best behaviour out of their child and strengthen their relationship with them.

Parents and carers will develop confidence in being a parent and learn parenting strategies to increase their child’s self-esteem and reduce aggressive behaviour problems.

Programme is 12 weeks – 2 hours per week, during term-time only.

Join Haringey's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) for a 1-hour online session for parents and carers in Haringey.

This session will explain how to prepare for and participate in the annual review of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), helping you understand what to expect and how to ensure your child’s needs and provision are accurately reflected.

Positive behaviour support: 2-day workshop for parents of children recently diagnosed with autism or awaiting assessment

Join Haringey's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) for a 2-day workshop exploring the importance of understanding behaviour and strategies for promoting positive behaviour and managing behaviour that challenges.

This workshop is for parents and carers of children living in Haringey who are on the autism assessment waiting list or have recently received a diagnosis.

Commitment to attend both days is required. A light lunch will be provided – please state any dietary requirements when booking.

Choosing a Post-16 Setting for SEND Learners

Online workshop for young people with special educational needs and disabilities transitioning to a post-16 setting.

This online workshop is aimed at students from year 9 upwards, mostly those in Y10, but families of younger children may wish to attend to find out more about post-16 settings.

This workshop is suitable for students with and without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The event will include:

Groundswell Arts: dancing together for toddlers and families at Muswell Hill Family Hub

These sessions encourage families to dance together, and increase physical activity and connection.

Circle of Security parenting programme at Muswell Hill Family Hub

An 6-week course for parents with children aged 0 to 5 years.

Useful tips and strategies to:

  • help parents to understand, recognise and respond to their child's behaviours and emotions
  • build secure attachments

The course encourages caregivers to observe and interpret their children’s behaviour and emotions. By learning to recognise cues, parents can provide a supportive environment that fosters children’s:

Markfield SENDIASS advisers will be onsite at Muswell Hill Family Hub to offer parents and carers one-to-one, confidential 20-minute advice sessions about special educational needs. SENDIASS offers help with navigating the Special Educational Needs system including:

Talking Therapies at Triangle Family Hub

Free NHS psychological therapy service offering support for a range of common mental health difficulties, such as:

  • depression and anxiety
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • other common mental health issues
