Education Projects at Bruce Castle Museum
Museums and Schools Programme - ongoing
Over 5000 children have already visited us as part of this DfE funded, Arts Council England project. The aim is to increase school engagement and the funding enables Bruce Castle to offer children who take part in more than one session a 50% discount. Each class can make two separate visits, or a popular option is to extend your day by taking part in a craft activity, exploring the galleries or taking a tour of the building and grounds with one of our new activity booklets designed for KS1/KS2.

The Land Beneath Our Feet - 2019
To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Dorset Survey and the beautiful pictorial map of Tottenham and Wood Green created from it, we worked in partnership with schools in Tottenham Hale, Northumberland Park and White Hart Lane to explore the map and create a series of inspired artworks which formed part of the exhibition.
The exhibition closed in early 2020, but sessions on the map and the local area are available for visiting school groups. To find out more please email museum.services@haringey.gov.uk
High Street Heritage - 2017
Linked to the regeneration of Tottenham High Road, pupils visited Bruce Castle to explore the history of the high street.
Over 280 local primary school children were inspired to create their own historic window-dressing whilst SEND pupils from The Brook on Broadwaters got hands-on in sensory workshops and EAL students at Duke’s Aldridge Academy extended their vocabulary through a range of literacy activities.
“A fantastic project” Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park.
