Improving support descriptions for children with SEND

Haringey Council aimed to update and revise the language used to describe the needs of children with SEND. 

New Banding Descriptors for children and young people with an Education, Health Care Plan (EHCP) were co-produced with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, and psychologists. 

The public consultation was the final step in gathering feedback and insight from the public to refine and finalise the Banding Descriptors for accuracy.

The public consultation lasted 8 weeks, from 5 October 2023 to 1 December 2023. We organised online and in-person events across Haringey to allow everyone to share their thoughts, ask questions, and participate.

March 2024 update: final Bandings published

Thank you to everyone who participated in the SEND Bandings consultation, whether by attending an online or in-person event or completing the survey. Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping the revised Bandings to better serve the needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities in Haringey.
