Haringey's youth forum for young people with SEND: What to do in Haringey - Picture House Vs Vue Cinema

As part of Elevated Youth's 'What to do in Haringey' series, the group visited Picture House Theatre in Crouch End to watch The Flash, and they also went to Vue Cinema in Wood Green to see Transformers. Check out our blog for their review of the theatres, films, and the accessibility of each location.


The Flash (12A) at Picture House Cinema in Crouch End 

Was the cinema accessible?

Yes it had a lift and toilets on the ground floor. Really large comfortable seats. It accepts CEA cards making it cheaper.

Was the cinema easy to get to?

Yes, a range of buses stopped outside or close by. Although, there was a bit of a wait for buses.

Was it value for money?

Yes, it had a lift and toilets on the ground floor with really large comfortable seats. They also accept CEA cards making the tickets cheaper.

  • Was the plot hard to follow? A bit longwinded in places but fast-paced. You would need to have seen some of the other films to get the jokes.
  • Was the film good? Good for most genders and ages
  • Overall experience / would you recommend? Yes, but we suggest going to the bathroom before the movie starts, or you may miss a good bit.
  • Best thing about the Flash movie? When he was running backwards to try and save his mum.
  • What could be improved? The music was a little loud.
  • Useful tips trick or advice for other young people: go to the toilet beforehand because it’s a long movie.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (12A) at Vue Theatre in Wood Green 

Was the cinema accessible?

Yes, very accessible. The theatre had a lift, and the Autism-friendly showing was not as loud, had subtitles, and you could make noise if needed. They also accept CEA cards making the tickets cheaper.

Was the cinema easy to get to?

Yes, very easy. Most buses in Haringey stop or pass through Wood Green.

Was it value for money?

Yes, you can buy a regular ticket online for £5.99 or use a CEA card. £7 for a large popcorn!!!

  • Was the plot hard to follow? No, it was easy even if you hadn’t seen any other Transformer movies.
  • Overall experience / would you recommend? Good film and funny in places. We would recommend!
  • Best thing about the Transformer movie? Lots of funny one liners.
  • What could be improved? The cost of popcorn.
  • Useful tips trick or advice for other young people? Split the cost of a box of popcorn with a friend.
