Where a family is being supported with supervised contact and is having an assessment the admission meeting and subsequent review meetings will be held jointly.
As well as offering supervised contact between parents and children, workers can work with Supervised Contact 10 colleagues completing assessments to complete specific areas of a Parenting Assessment.
Foster carers involvement in supporting the contact needs to happen at this stage, to provide continuity and quality support for the children.
All contact packages will be subject to either an internal review or child protection review, core group meeting or Looked After Child review.
Before contact begins at the centre, time needs to be allocated to enable children to visit the centre to familiarise themselves with the environment and workers and to ask any questions they may have.
We will give practical advice to ensure each child and family contact is safe and meets children’s needs.
We will focus on supporting, advising and developing specific aspects of parenting as agreed during the contact agreement meeting.
To support the ongoing benefits of contact for children and families, it is important that all professionals maintain close working relationships and share information appropriately.
