Who are Haringey's young carers?

Young carers are children and young people aged 5 to 18 who help to care for someone in their family who suffers from: 

  • mental illness
  • physical illness
  • disability
  • drug/alcohol abuse

About the young carers project

The young carers project offers regular group activities for young carers aged 11 to 18, providing much-needed respite and fostering a sense of community.

Activities include sports, cooking, music, wellbeing workshops, entrepreneurship and team-building exercises.

The attendance for each session typically ranges from 5 to 15 young carers.

Monday sessions

Monday sessions are held at Bruce Grove Youth Space from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Thursday sessions are held at Rising Green Youth Hub from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Trips and educational experiences

The programme includes a series of exciting trips and educational experiences. These outings are designed to broaden the participants’ horizons by:

  • immersing them in new environments
  • helping them gain valuable skills
  • exposing them to diverse cultures, industries, and challenges
