In Haringey, we support families in their feeding choices. The right to breastfeed in any public place is protected by law. This means that breastfeeding parents should never be asked to move, stop feeding or leave.
Breastfeeding is important for babies, mothers, society and the environment due to the various benefits it provides, such as reduced risks of infection and disease for child and baby.
Unfortunately, some women may feel nervous about breastfeeding when in public. They might not feel sure that venues and their staff will enforce their right to breastfeed. This may mean that they choose not to breastfeed or give up breastfeeding before they really want to.
Haringey's Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme will reassure them that a venue welcomes and supports breastfeeding.
We have created a map displaying all the venues that have already signed up to Haringey's Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme.
