The following steps after an Autism diagnosis depend on the child's age
For children aged five years and under
Parents and carers receive the diagnosis paperwork at the Child Development Centre at St. Ann's Hospital. Along with the paperwork, they are offered a Family Seminar. This seminar is a single session where they can meet other parents and receive an introduction to Autism. For more information, contact the Portage Team.
For children over five
The support options are currently being updated. This page will be amended in early 2025 with the new information.
Support for sharing the diagnosis
The Language and Autism Support Team assists schools and families in supporting them with ways they can share an Autism diagnosis with their children and young people. For more information, contact them via email at last@haringey.gov.uk.
Transition support
The Language and Autism Support Team helps with major transitions, such as starting reception, moving from primary to secondary school, and transitioning to college in Haringey Mainstream Schools.
