The Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Ahmed Mahbub

The Mayor is elected at the annual meeting of the council. The Mayor for 2025 to 2026 is Councillor Ahmed Mahbub.

I’m excited to begin my first term as Mayor.

This is the borough I was born in and have spent my entire life in. I am humble and grateful for the opportunity to become Haringey's first citizen.

From attending Noel Park Primary School and Woodside High, to playing baseball in Finsbury Park and learning Jiu Jitsu in Muswell Hill. I am a life long resident who has enjoyed all the benefits of living in such an amazing borough.

Haringey stands tall with its rich and diverse tapestry. We are a global village, hosting residents from all corners of the world. I am honoured to be Haringey's first ever Mayor of Bangladeshi origins.

As a community, we recognize that sometimes we all need a helping hand. In light of our tough economic climate, I am proud to be supporting the Haringey Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) as the Mayor's charity. Located in the heart of White Hart Lane, the CAB provides invaluable support and advice to the people of Haringey, ranging from housing to debt to legal support. They are stalwarts of our community, and I am proud to raise money for them during my mayoral year, whilst also raising their profile for the wonderful work they do.

Having served as a councillor for White Hart Lane since 2022, I have met hundreds of wonderful people and witnessed their many impressive achievements. Now, with the borough-wide role of Mayor, the opportunities for engagement and interaction with even more Haringey businesses, community groups, and residents have increased significantly.

I continue to be amazed by the vibrancy and generosity of Haringey. It is a beautiful and green place to live and work. In my role as Mayor, I will seek to discover, understand, and embrace all that the people of Haringey offer.

I am committed to serving all our residents, and I humbly thank you for this opportunity and your support as I take up this role of first citizen of Haringey.
