‘Sounds of Seven Sisters’ celebrates the contribution of sisters to Tottenham, starting with Edith Hibbert, one of seven sisters who planted a tree at Page Green in 1886, honouring the original ring of seven trees from which the name Seven Sisters derives from.
Local creative Emma Crouch has created a new soundscape to reanimate an 1880 painting by Edith of the once much loved ‘Crows Walk’ that ran from Bruce Grove station to Bruce Castle. In a dialogue across time, the soundscape sits alongside audio postcards from two sister owned businesses, With Milk cafe and First Reform Pilates studio, both firmly rooted in Tottenham. These audio postcards weave in soundbites from new oral histories with the sisters, reflecting on the area, how they built their businesses, and the value in growing and holding community.
