Residents set to benefit from 3000 high-quality affordable homes

Cllr Ruth Gordon, Cabinet Member for House Building, Placemaking and Development, visited Cornwall Road this week - one of the many exciting sites we are working on to build more council homes across the borough.

Our ambitious programme aims to deliver 3000 new high quality, sustainable and genuinely affordable council homes by 2031 for people across the borough. Working closely with residents – particularly those who have additional mobility needs - each of the homes will be designed and built to meet their individual requirements.

As part of this, we will deliver wider improvements for both new and existing residents. This includes new play areas and enhanced green spaces, that the whole community can enjoy. By investing in the local area and working closely with residents to understand their individual needs and their idea of a thriving borough, the council aims to create a desirable place for residents to live.

Inclusivity is key to our housing programme and therefore using a bespoke approach during the design and planning stages also allows us to build homes that directly meet the needs of our residents. At our Cornwall Road development, there is level access throughout the blocks as well as rise fall worktop surfaces.
