Young children from across Haringey finally got to discover their grades for their GCSEs and other equivalent/vocational exams on GCSE Results Day (Thursday 24 August 2023) as they opened their envelopes among their school friends and family members.
Our Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, Cllr Zena Brabazon, paid a visit to Park View School in Tottenham to congratulate the pupils and staff on their results and all the dedicated hard work that went in to achieving them.
Nationally, the proportion of pupils receiving top grades in English and Maths was down on last year – by 5.6 points and 2.9 points respectively – although pass rates were slightly up compared to the pre-pandemic levels back in 2019.
Cllr Brabazon said:
I’m delighted to be here at Park View seeing all these young people opening their envelopes and getting their results.
It has been a great year for Park View. They’ve exceeded 2019 and there are loads of students here who are going on to the courses that they want to go to having done well in their exams, so congratulations to them and to all our young people across Haringey today on GCSE Results Day!
PVS pupil Gabriel (above) was “surprised” by his results as he had done “better than expected.” He is now eyeing up a future career in Music Production and catching up on some much-needed sleep for the first time in weeks.
Jackie (below) came away from the day feeling “great,” having “passed all the subjects I wanted to.” He got two Grade 7s, 4 Grade 6s, 2 Grade 5s & a Grade 3.
Meanwhile, over in the west of the borough at Fortismere, Daniel (above) will be staying on at the Sixth Form there to study Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. He got 3 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s, 3 Grade 7s and a C in Further Maths.
Like Daniel, Isabel (below) will also be studying at the Sixth Form at Fortismere having got 4 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s, 1 Grade 6 and a B in Additional Maths.
Many congratulations to all the young people from Haringey on their A Level, BTec, GCSE and other equivalent/vocational exam results this month.
You’ve all done yourselves – and the borough – proud and we wish you the very best of luck for the future.
