Haringey’s housing team bag Inside Housing award

Haringey’s incredible Housing team have picked up another prestigious award.

Last week, they won ‘best development team – urban’ at the Inside Housing Development awards.

With more than 12,500 people on our housing waiting list, the team have been working hard to ensure those in the greatest need will have a place they can call home. We currently have more than 2,000 homes which have either been completed or have started work across the borough.

Each of the developments under this scheme will be built with sustainability at their heart to tackle the climate change emergency. Where possible, sustainable materials will be used to ensure homes are well-insulated and energy efficient. This includes innovative air source heat pumps, solar panels and the provision of energy-efficient appliances.

Our developments aim to achieve a net carbon-zero footprint and, where possible, will deliver enhanced green spaces and biodiversity improvements which will benefit the whole community. This includes extensive high-quality landscaping, new tree planting, bat-bird boxes and green roofs.

For many, a council home offers a real chance to put down roots in Haringey.

Thanks to the hard work and commitment of our housing team, we’re on track to deliver 3000 high quality, sustainable and genuinely affordable homes for our residents by 2031.
