Local apprentices contribute to ambitious housing programme

Young people in Haringey are taking the reins and contributing to one of the most ambitious housing programmes in London.

Local apprentices, Romario and Kane have been working on Partridge Way – a new development which is located in Wood Green and part of the council’s ambitious housebuilding programme – to provide 23 council homes for people across the borough.

Project manager, Ali also grew up in the borough and is now working on the new site.

With a strong commitment to investing in our young people as well as the borough, Haringey Council recognises the importance of nurturing local talent that will not only contribute to their personal successes but also the boroughs legacy. The hands-on experience will provide them with the necessary skills to further their career and enhance their employability.

Offering apprenticeships within the local community plays a significant role in the economic and social development of the area. This opportunity is offering these young individuals the chance to participate and make a change in their community whilst bringing a unique blend of energy, talent and desire to learn.

Young people are the future of the community and by encouraging and supporting local apprenticeships, we are investing in the boroughs diverse and vibrant future.

Haringey Council’s ambitious housing programme aims to build 3000 new council homes by 2031. With more than 12,500 people on our housing waiting list, the team have been working hard to ensure those in the greatest need will have a place they can call home. At present, more 2,000 homes which have either been completed or have started work across the borough.
