Tottenham’s creative businesses will benefit from £100,000 funding from the Mayor of London to increase the environmental sustainability of their workspaces and move towards net zero.
The Tottenham Creative Spaces Green Grant which ranges between £2,000-£20,000 is being made available to artist studios, recording studios, creative workspaces and more across Tottenham who can apply and show how this would improve their organisation’s sustainability. This funding comes from the Mayor of London’s £1.2 million Creative Enterprise Zone Sustainability Capital Grant fund.
Tottenham was designated a Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) in 2018. Tottenham's CEZ, Made By Tottenham offers business and career guidance, organises events, commissions creatives, and advocates for the sector. It is also a Creative Business Directory, and a platform for news, events and opportunities.
The new grant funding was announced at a visit to the Made by Tottenham Winter Pop-Up Shop at the Trampery Tottenham by Cllr Ruth Gordon Cabinet Member for Housebuilding, Placemaking and the Local Economy and Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries Justine Simons OBE.
Cllr Ruth Gordon, Cabinet Member for Council House Building, Placemaking and Local Economy, said:
“Creative enterprises are an integral part of our new inclusive economy framework, Opportunity Haringey, where we’ve set out our vision to create a fairer and greener local economy that builds on local creativity to harness Haringey’s strengths.
“From artist-makers, music production, food and fashion, the creative industries play a major part of the economic and cultural life of Haringey. The Made by Tottenham pop-up shop showcases products from 48 local creatives.
“Many of our creatives work in spaces in historic buildings, or light industrial units which aren’t energy efficient. As a council we’re committed to supporting a just transition to net zero for our all businesses. The Tottenham Creative Spaces Green Grant will take our creative businesses a step closer to achieving this.
“I am pleased that we are providing funding to Made by Tottenham to support local creative businesses with the rising cost of operations and help them to become more resilient and greener for the future.”

Tottenham is one of the most creative areas of London, with 1 in 5 residents working in the creative industries and has a long history of creative production, including textiles and furniture, predominately in the Harringay Warehouse District and along the Lea Valley.
The Tottenham Creative Spaces Green Grants programme will be managed by Made in Tottenham, the borough’s Creative Enterprise Zone.
