The Great British Spring Clean and Great Big School Clean 2025, running from 21 March to 6 April, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, inviting everyone to join in and make a difference.

Starting today, people across the borough can make a difference and pledge to pick up a bag of litter - or more - to help clean up the places and spaces they care about. Whether as an individual, group, or school, everyone’s contribution matters.

In a recent YouGov survey which was conducted ahead of the campaign, more than 31.6 million people shared that ‘litter-free streets’ would increase their pride in where they live.

Additionally, 72% of UK adults admitted that seeing litter makes them feel less proud of their neighbourhood.

To help volunteers, the council is providing free gloves, bags, and the option to borrow litter pickers. From parks and streets to estates and wildlife areas, there’s no shortage of spaces that could use a little love and care. The council will also ensure the collection of the waste gathered during the campaign.

Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Tackling Inequality and Resident Services, said:

The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic example of what we can achieve when we work together with our residents and communities.

Haringey is a vibrant borough, home to stunning parks, a canal, a historic castle, and even a palace. While most residents take pride in our community, unfortunately, a small minority spoil it for others by littering.

Haringey residents have participated every year and we hope to see more individuals, schools, and groups to make a tangible difference in their neighbourhoods. This campaign is a fantastic example of making this happen. You will get all the equipment and support you need. It can be you as an individual, your neighbours, a resident association, a school or your faith group.

Let’s work together to make our borough beautiful again and restore a sense of pride in our communities.

The Great British Spring Clean, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, is now in its tenth year and brings people together across the country to collect and dispose of hundreds of thousands of bags of litter.

Can we count on you to show your love for where you live? Together, let’s make this the biggest and best Great British Spring Clean yet.
