A brand-new Traffic Text Alerts service has been launched, offering real-time updates straight to mobile phones to help residents and visitors plan their journeys more efficiently.
This includes instances where the council has temporarily adjusted traffic filters in low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs).
Whether it’s a Spurs Stadium event, emergency roadworks, planned traffic measures, or road closures, the service keeps people informed, helping them avoid delays and travel smarter.
This free and accessible service is designed to ease congestion and help drivers avoid traffic hotspots. Open to everyone, it requires no MyAccount or specific eligibility - simply sign up, and updates will start arriving immediately.
With Haringey’s roads regularly impacted by high-profile events and essential infrastructure works, this service is designed to ease pressure on traffic flow and keep the borough moving smoothly.
Cllr Seema Chandwani, Cabinet Member for Resident Services & Tackling Inequality, said:
Traffic has been a major frustration for our residents, and we’ve heard them loud and clear. We’ve taken action by introducing a new system designed to help people plan their journeys more smoothly, avoid unnecessary delays, and stay ahead of disruptions.
This service is simple, free, and open to everyone, whether you're a resident, a local business, or just visiting the borough. By providing real-time traffic updates, we’re giving people the tools to make informed travel choices, reduce congestion, and improve overall traffic flow across Haringey.
