With the introduction of new volunteer taster sessions, residents will get the chance to roll up their sleeves, learn practical repair skills, and join a growing movement to cut waste and build a growing community.
The sessions will take place on Thursday 30 October from 18:00 to 20:00, and Saturday 1 November from 11:00 to 13:00.
Attendees will be introduced to the Factory’s mission and invited to participate in a series of engaging workshop activities, including disassembling old electronics, badge making, and repair challenges.
Those who attend do not require any previous experience, and participants will have the chance to meet fellow volunteers and learn how they can get involved.
Cllr Mike Hakata, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Environment, and Transport, said:
The launch of the Fixing Factory in Haringey was a tremendous success, showcasing exactly how a restorative and regenerative circular economy can operate in practice.
It was inspiring to see the community unite with a shared purpose - to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and help build a stronger borough for everyone.
I strongly encourage residents to take part in the upcoming taster sessions, not only to learn valuable repair skills, but to understand the vital role we all play in building a circular economy that creates local jobs, drives economic regeneration, and keeps products in circulation at their highest value for as long as possible.
Located in Florentia Village, at the heart of the Harringay Warehouse District, the Fixing Factory is supported by Veolia, the North London Waste Authority, and The National Lottery Community Fund. It aims to empower residents with practical skills, reduce electronic waste, and foster a culture of repair and reuse.
The Fixing Factory will host free community repair events, provide hands-on training, and offer affordable refurbished goods. It will also introduce repair clubs where volunteers restore broken items for resale or donation, alongside corporate workshops designed to raise awareness and generate income. These initiatives will help stock the Fixing Factory Outlet with accessible, refurbished products for the local community.
By combining heritage and innovation, the Fixing Factory is helping to build a cleaner, more resilient future for Haringey.
