Taking place at the London Islamic Cultural Society (LICS, also known as Wightman Road Mosque, N8 0NA) from 6pm onwards, local people of all backgrounds and beliefs will collectively assemble for this multi-faith ‘Uniting Together Against Islamophobia’ event.

There will be a ‘Prayer for Humanity’ amid these divisive and polarising times of conflicts around the world and all are welcome to attend.

This event is supported by Haringey Council, the Haringey Multi-Faith Forum and the Metropolitan Police.

Speaking earlier this month at the start of Islamophobia Awareness Month, Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Ajda Ovat, said:

As a council, our message is really clear and simple – we will not accept Islamophobia or any hate crime in any of its forms. There is zero tolerance to any form of hate crime and zero tolerance to any form of racism.

It’s really important for us to engage with all our Muslim communities in the borough and we have regular engagement via the fantastic Haringey Multi-Faith Forum, as well as with our Muslim community leaders here.

This month shouldn’t just be a time to raise awareness about discrimination and prejudice though. We will also be celebrating the culture and traditions of all of our Muslim communities.

Haringey’s greatest asset is the sheer diversity within our borough. We fundamentally believe in it as it’s what makes us stronger and we will continue to celebrate it.

If a hate crime is happening and you or anyone else is in danger, dial 999. If it’s not an emergency or you want to report a hate crime after it’s occurred, call 101. You can also report offensive graffiti.

If you experience or witness anti-Muslim hate, you can report it to the British Muslim Trust by phoning or WhatsApping their FREEPHONE number: 0808 172 3524 (Monday-Friday, 10am-3pm).

You can also email them at any time, while form and live chat options are available too. It’s a Muslim-led and safe service, where you’ll speak to a trained advisor in confidence.

Meanwhile, the Leader, Cllr Peray Ahmet, and Cllr Ovat attended the launch of the Haringey Multi-Faith Youth Forum (HMYF) at George Meehan House in Wood Green on Wednesday evening (12 November 2025).

Modelled on its adult equivalent (the Haringey Multi-Faith Forum), it’s hoped these young people can be developed and nurtured to go on and become the community and faith group leaders of the future in our borough.

There was lots of energy and ideas during this inaugural meeting, with all in attendance showing how passionate they are about community cohesion and inter-faith integration and expressing a collective desire to meet up again soon and start to make things happen in Haringey.

The young people also spoke of their genuine gratitude for being brought together, what they hoped for the future – including sharing their respective cultural cuisine together – and the community impact they can have.

Cllr Ovat said:

Tonight we launched the Haringey Multi-Faith Youth Forum!

An inspiring evening full of energy from the next generation. Building on the Haringey Multi-Faith Forum’s work to amplify young voices and strengthen community cohesion.
