Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Ajda Ovat, joined the Deputy Leader of Haringey Council and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, Cllr Sarah Williams, at the Central Engagement Hub on the Broadwater Farm estate on Wednesday (26 November 2025) and outside Sainsbury’s Local on Lordship Lane on Friday (28 November 2025).
As a ward Cllr for West Green, Cllr Williams engaged with residents throughout what proved to be a productive week to directly hear the concerns affecting residents in the local area, including outside Belmont Infant/Junior School too on Monday (24 November 2025), when she was joined by Youth Council representatives El Shaddai, Zakariya & Eylyul.
Cllr Ovat and another Cabinet Member and West Green ward Cllr, Seema Chandwani (Resident Services and Tackling Inequality), also engaged with residents outside Turnpike Lane Tube Station on Tuesday evening (25 November 2025).
Cllr Ovat said:
We’ve had council officers and partners, such as the police and Veolia, here to listen to the feedback and concerns of West Green residents.
It’s very encouraging to see so many local residents engaging with council staff at our Central Engagement Hubs throughout the Week of Action. That way, our officers and partners can listen to your concerns and action them as best as possible.
Council officers were stationed at the Central Hub and covered a number of different departments and services, including: Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Enforcement, Community Safety, Environmental Health, Licensing, Parking Enforcement, Parks, Trading Standards, Waste and Waste Enforcement, as well as Bringing Unity Back Into the Community (BUBIC) and the Metropolitan Police’s local Senior Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
Informative leaflets on the police’s news app, Met Engage, were also distributed at the Central Engagement Hubs throughout the Week of Action.
Through this new platform, Haringey residents can get to know their local officers, help shape how the Met police the local area and have direct access to key information and advice.
The app represents an opportunity for residents to tell the police what’s concerning them most so the latter can take action on the things that truly matter to our local communities.
Haringey Council coordinates these Weeks of Action to take place on a bi-monthly basis, with each one targeting a different area of the borough.
Previous Weeks of Action have been held in Alexandra Park, Bounds Green, Bruce Castle, Bruce Grove, Crouch End, Highgate, Hornsey, Muswell Hill, Noel Park, Northumberland Park, South Tottenham, St Ann’s, Stroud Green, Tottenham Hale, Turnpike Lane and Wood Green.
The next Weeks of Action will take place in the Crouch End (January 2026) and Seven Sisters (March 2026) wards.
