Good design can enhance the character of an area and the council encourages the use of the historic environment as a basis for good quality design and positive change. When considering altering or extending a building in a conservation area it's a good idea to consult an experienced architect.

  • RIBA, which has information about working with an architect and a tool to help you find a local practice with conservation expertise
