The facts about dumped rubbish (fly-tipping)

Did you know:

• £3million a year is spent dealing with fly-tipping
• large scale fly-tips can be punished with a £50,000 fine, or a prison sentence
• if someone illegally dumps your rubbish for you, you will be fined
• we record littering such as dumped black bags as fly-tips, which some councils do not

To keep Haringey clean we:

• have 155 street cleaning operatives working each day
• empty 33,000 bins every day
• collect 495,000 bins every fortnight
• sweep 2,142km of streets every week
• handle 1,800 fly-tipping reports every month
