Safeguarding adults reviews
Part of: Haringey safeguarding adults board
Under the 2014 Care Act, safeguarding adults boards (SABs) are required to consider undertaking a safeguarding adults review (SAR) when an adult in its area has suffered significant harm as a result of abuse and/or neglect.
The purpose of a SAR is to:
- learn from the way local agencies, staff and volunteers worked together to safeguard adults at risk, both what did and what did not work well
- agree how this learning will be acted on, and what is expected to change as a result
- identify any issues for multi or single agency policies and procedures
- publish a summary report, which is available to the public

National SARs Library
The National Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) library, coordinated by the National Network for Chairs of Adult Safeguarding Boards, contains reports dating from April 2019. You can access the reports via the National SARs Library and reports website.
