Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and SEND transport

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNS) prevent non-local traffic from cutting through residential areas. LTNs use various traffic control measures, such as filters and physical barriers.

All properties within an LTN will always remain accessible by motor vehicle, but the route you take may change.

SEND transport exemptions

We have developed an exemptions criteria and application process for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) transport within LTNs.

This provides exemptions for:

  • SEND transport arranged by the council
  • Transport arranged by parents/carers for qualifying children under an individual circumstance exemption

See the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) transport page to find out more about the individual circumstance exemptions criteria.
