Last night (16 September 2025), Cabinet agreed the purchase of 76 homes as part of the redevelopment of a site at The Roundway and 32 at an existing scheme in Lordship Lane, both in Tottenham. These high-quality homes were originally built for private sale.
Councillors also gave the go-ahead to select a contractor to build 16 energy efficient homes in Archway Road, N6, designed using Passivhaus insulation principles.
The three projects will contribute to the council’s target to deliver 3,000 new council homes by 2031, 2,000 of which are already underway or completed.
Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:
In the face of the housing crisis, there is an overwhelming need for new council homes, and we are doing everything we can to make this happen.
These schemes are another important step forward and will deliver high-quality homes, including a majority of much-needed family-sized accommodation for residents with children. Moving into these properties will be life-changing for people on our waiting list.
I’m proud we are continuing to expand the supply of genuinely affordable housing in our borough – month on month, year on year – to help more and more residents get a home at a fair rent.
The news follows the recent unveiling of six council homes at White Hart Lane as part of the council’s multi-award-winning housebuilding programme.
80 per cent of the Lordship Lane project and 40 per cent at The Roundway will be family sized accommodation of two bedrooms or more.
All flats on the upper floors at both schemes will have private balconies and access to a communal garden.
The Archway Road Passivhaus development, which includes 10 family-sized homes, will be powered by heat pumps and solar panels and deliver exceptional energy efficiency, ensuring low running costs.
It also includes a private garden courtyard away from the main road, complete with a play space for children.
