Energy efficient high-quality homes to benefit local families

A dozen homes will be purchased to provide high-quality, energy efficient accommodation for local families and individuals impacted by the housing crisis.
Lawrence Road scheme

Last night (20 January 2026), Haringey Council’s Cabinet approved plans to acquire 12 properties at a scheme in Lawrence Road, Tottenham, to let at council rents.

The investment, which includes five family-sized homes and four suitable for wheelchair users, is part of Haringey’s ambitious housebuilding programme to deliver a new generation of at least 3,000 homes at council rent by 2031, with more than 2,000 already under way or completed.

In addition to high energy efficiency standards and the potential to connect the new homes to a District Energy Network, households will benefit from either a private balcony or a terrace, a communal garden and children’s play area.

Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:

Purchasing these homes is another important step in our efforts to deliver a new generation of council homes and build a fairer, greener borough.

Everyone should have a safe, stable, warm and comfortable home. This scheme brings forward additional high-quality homes that are well-insulated and energy efficient, making them affordable to run as well as affordable to rent.

Moving into these homes will transform the lives of local people by providing a new start and an opportunity for a secure future.
