Each specialist company will be responsible for a geographical area of the borough – Equans Regeneration in the west, United Infrastructure for central areas, Hugh LS McConnell covering east (south) and Mulalley and Company, the east (north) neighbourhood.
This will enable us to accelerate our work to bring our homes up to ‘Decent Homes’ standard: with 987 upgrades planned for 26/27; 1,772 in 27/28 and 1,929 in 28/29.
In the next three years alone, we are set to improve over 14,500 homes, and upgrade the energy rating of 400 properties to EPC C. The benefits we will deliver include external wall and loft insulation, energy efficient doors and windows, bathroom and kitchen upgrades, new roofs, safety improvements and revamped communal spaces as part of the 10-year contract.
In addition, the works will unlock hundreds of job and training opportunities for local people with an obligation for the contractors to employ apprentices and include local businesses in supply chains.
Cllr Sarah Williams, Deputy Leader and Haringey’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said:
A home is at the heart of people’s lives. Our investment here in Haringey will make a real difference to quality of life for our residents.
We are delighted to have our partners on board and look forward to working with them to drive forward the commitments we have made to our residents and the Housing Regulator.
These include delivering 100% decency across all our homes by 2028, improving fire safety standards and enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability so that we can continue to provide much needed, good quality homes into the future.
This landmark investment will improve the overall Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of the council’s entire housing stock, ensuring they are warmer, energy efficient and more attractive to live in.
