This consultation closed on 8 October 2025.
Overview
The statutory consultation begins on Wednesday 17 September 2025 and runs for 21 days.
We are proposing to introduce red route controls along the A105 High Road in Wood Green, between Bounds Green Road and Turnpike Lane. This follows public engagement in 2024 and aims to improve traffic flow, safety and enforcement in this busy high street area.
Background
In August 2024, we invited residents and businesses to share their views on the proposed Red Route. We are grateful to everyone who took part. Your feedback has helped shape the next steps.
Engagement summary:
- 3,170 properties were contacted
- 196 responses received
- 80 (41%) supported the Red Route
- 116 (59%) did not support it
- of these, 46 cited concerns about loss of parking. For clarification: no marked parking bays will be removed or reduced. This proposal only changes double yellow lines to double red lines, meaning no stopping at any time
Full details of the outcome of the public engagement are detailed in the proposed Wood Green red route delegated authority report.
Why red routes
Red routes offer stronger enforcement than yellow lines:
- yellow lines: enforced only by on-foot community enforcement officers (CEOs)
- red lines: enforced by CEOs and CCTV cameras
This helps prevent illegal parking and improves the experience for everyone living, working, or visiting Wood Green.
