Hornsey South CPZ – Proposed Sub-Zone near Hornsey Railway Station – ended 21 November 2025

The Council is aware some residents in the Hornsey South CPZ who live near Hornsey Railway Station are finding it hard to find a place to park outside of the existing CPZ hours of operation.

This may be due to a number of reasons depending on when residents are arriving back home. The railway station attracts commuters who arrive by car outside of the controlled hours and some of the local businesses (combination of industrial estates, individual businesses, a café and a restaurant) attract customers who arrive by private car.  Some of the parking problems have been reported to occur late into the evening and on weekends.

We proposed to create a sub-zone near Hornsey station to cover the island of roads bounded by Tottenham Lane, Church Lane and Hornsey High Street which includes Gisburn Road and Ribblesdale Road. The sub-zone would have longer hours of operation and potentially include weekends to better provide for the parking needs of residents and ensure their parking needs are prioritised.

We are currently preparing the decision report.

Please read the public engagement letter and map.

Alexandra Palace Event Day CPZ - ended June 2025

We understood from local ward councillors that residents were finding it difficult to park near their homes. This was due to parking pressures created by those outside the area, who took advantage of the free or unrestricted parking arrangements during events at Alexandra Palace or the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

We proposed introducing parking controls that would prioritise parking for residents when events (sports or entertainment) were taking place at Alexandra Palace or the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

We asked whether residents wanted us to work with them to help resolve these parking pressures and prioritise parking for local households.

We are currently reviewing the public engagement feedback before deciding on the next steps.

Please read the public engagement letter and map.

Hornsey North East CPZ – possible extension – ended June 2025

Residents of Southview Road and Hawthorn Road have told us that they are finding it difficult to park near their homes. This is due to parking pressures created by those outside the area, who take advantage of the current free or unrestricted parking arrangements.

We have reviewed all feedback and comments received during he public engagement and the consultation outcome report has now been completed and approved.   The next stage is statutory consultation on extending the Hornsey North East CPZ to include North View Road, South View Road and Hawthorn Road.  A link to the report can be found below.

The statutory consultation will commence on Wednesday 10th December.

Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their views.

Please read the public engagement letter and map.

Finsbury Park CPZ - ended May 2025

In recent years, the frequency and complexity of events held at Finsbury Park has increased, leading to challenges in how parking access and safety are managed during events. As the Highway Authority, we have a legal duty to manage the public highway.

As a result of the ongoing challenges, we propose to extend the existing match/event day restrictions (Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 8.30pm and on Sunday and Public Holidays 12 noon to 4.30pm). This will mean existing signs and parking bays can be used to help manage parking when events are held at Finsbury Park.

A decision has yet to be made on the next steps.
