The resident carers' permits has been replaced by the resident care at home permit.
If you have a resident carers' permit, you can continue to use it until it runs out. You will not be able to renew it but may be able to apply for a resident care at home permit.

You can only have 1 resident carers' permit.

The resident carers' permit is valid in a:
- resident permit holder bay
- resident shared-use bay (resident permit holder and pay by phone)
- permit holder bay
- permit holder shared-use bay (permit holder and pay by phone)

Application and renewals
New applications and renewals for resident carers' permits stopped at the end of October 2023. If you applied for, or renewed, your resident carers' permit before the end of October, we'll have sent you an email letting you know we’re processing your application.
Processing your application takes up to 10 working days.
If your application's approved, you can use your permit right away.
If your permit is not approved, we’ll let you know why and if we need more information.
We no longer renew these permits but you may be able to apply for a resident care at home permit.
Refunds
If you no longer need your permit, you can cancel it and may get a refund.
