Customer Services
If you need to contact us, the Customer Service Centre at Wood Green Library will be open as usual apart from the Bank Holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day). Operating hours will be 9am and 5pm, with a slightly later opening time of 10am on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
You can contact Customer Services on: 020 8489 1000 from 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 10am to 5pm on Wednesdays.
If you need to contact us outside of normal office hours, you should only do so in an emergency (EG: to raise concerns about the safety of a child or an adult) by calling our out-of-hours line on: 020 8489 0000.
Our out-of-office hours are as follows:
- 5pm to 9am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
- 5pm to 10am on Wednesdays
- All day on weekends and Bank Holidays

If your call is not considered an emergency, you should contact us online or telephone us again during normal office hours.

Bin Collections
There will be no change to the usual bin collection days in 2025 apart from on Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December 2025) and Boxing Day (Friday 26 December 2025), with your rubbish and recycling being collected on Saturday 27 December 2025 and Sunday 28 December 2025 respectively.
Bin collections on Thursday 1 January 2026 and Friday 2 January 2026 will take place on Friday 2 January 2026 and Saturday 3 January 2026 respectively.
The reuse and recycling centre on Western Rood will be closed on Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December 2025), Boxing Day (Friday 26 December 2025) and New Year’s Day (Thursday 1 January 2026).
We’ve also made it easy for you to recycle your Christmas tree.
Leisure Centres
Our four Active Wellbeing leisure centres in the borough – at Broadwater Farm, New River, Park Road and Tottenham Green – are also open aside from the three national Bank Holidays on Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December 2025), Boxing Day (Friday 26 December 2025) and New Year’s Day (Thursday 1 January 2026).

Transport for London
The vast majority of Transport for London (TfL) services will be running over the Christmas and New Year period* (*between Saturday 20 December 2025 and Monday 5 January 2026).
However, some services will be affected by planned works and service changes, including a full closure of the bus and tube network on Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December 2025), so visit the TfL website for more information and to plan your journey in advance.
