Wood Green Town Centre Vision
Future Wood Green BID is working with Haringey Council to collaborate with businesses, customers, residents and stakeholders to create a longer-term vision for Wood Green town centre.
About the Town Centre Vision
This project focuses specifically on the future of the Town Centre. It is jointly funded by Wood Green BID, Haringey Council, and the Mayor of London.
We are looking to the future and considering opportunities such as:
- new uses for empty properties
- improving visitor experience
- creating pleasant places to sit, play and socialise
- helping communities get more involved in their town centre
This is more important than ever after the effects on high streets following Brexit, staffing and skills shortages, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus has now shifted to how we reposition our high streets to diversify what they offer, and explore the introduction of community, civic and cultural uses into the high street.
Local young people are one of the key lenses through which we will develop and scrutinise the strategy. In-depth engagement with young people, businesses, customers, community organisations and other key stakeholders will help ensure the High Street is a place for young people to participate, learn, play, socialise and work.
A business and resident survey took place in early 2022. Using the information, feedback, and findings, a Town Centre Action Plan will be created. This will provide a medium-to-long-term action plan including physical and non-physical interventions, and economic development opportunities for funding bids, and will help to develop a local partnership to aid project delivery.
