Traci Pope - Haringey Heroes Awards 2022
April 2022
SEND Team 2 Leader Traci Pope received an award from the mayor for her outstanding contribution to supporting children and young people with SEND in Haringey. We are so lucky to have Traci leading our support for secondary school children and proud that her hard work has been recognised.
“I have been involved in working with children and young people for many years and joined the Haringey Statutory Assessment Team in January 2021.
"I am the parent of 4 children, 2 of whom have Special Educational Needs. Those experiences as a parent and supporting young people led me into this specific area of work. I am very passionate about children and young people having the best experiences and enjoyment from their school years and beyond in their next stages of life.
"I am one of 3 Team Leaders and Team Lead for the secondary provision. This involves co-ordinating delivery of the support for young people towards securing positive outcomes and working in partnership with parents and a range of professionals and services.
"Receiving recognition as a Haringey Hero for my ‘dedication, compassion and care’ to my work was a huge surprise and has meant so much to me and the team. I am very grateful to those that nominated me, especially Haringey Learning Partnership. My youngest son accompanied me to the ceremony, and it was truly motivating to be amongst staff from different services and hear about the great work being done in Haringey.
"The SEND Team are so dedicated and work hard to ensure we provide the best support we can for the profile of needs in our diverse and unique borough, and towards keeping our young people safe and having the best chances and opportunities to succeed. I am so proud to be part of that team.
"The work is very challenging but also extremely rewarding, and I am especially excited about our direction and the type of service we are creating for the young people and families we support."
