We're building a Youth Panel for SEND

I am Karen Douglas, the new Youth Voice and Participation Coordinator in the Early Help and Prevention and SEND Division. I plan to make good the Council's promise of co-delivery, enabling young people to help influence service design and delivery across the SEND system.

As part of that promise, I'm developing a youth panel that will work in partnership with us here at the Council. This panel will allow young people a platform to collaborate and co-design while ensuring much space for fun and creativity.

The aim is to meet once a month, but we await the young people to shape and decide the panel, including how they'd like to be rewarded for their contribution and time. Currently, each meeting is scheduled for two hours, including refreshments and warm-up games.

I am currently recruiting young people to join this panel, so if you know a young person who has good ideas and would like to make things better for other young people, enjoys working as part of a team, and wants to meet new friends and build community, please get in touch with me via email karen.douglas@haringey.gov.uk or call 07971 964 279.
