Successful SEND Pathways to Employment Event: Accessible Opportunities for Youth
Last month, on 11 October 2023, we hosted our annual SEND Pathways to Employment event at Haringey Sixth Form College.
This annual event is tailored for young people in year 9 and above, along with their families, to explore accessible opportunities for employment, apprenticeships, and supported internships.
Various established providers of disability-specific employment programmes had booths at the event, offering young people the chance to learn about their schemes and how to access them.
Event partners included (all external links):
- Ambitious about Autism
- AFK Charity
- Care Trade UK
- Job Centre Plus (JCP)
- Mencap
- Shaw Trust
- West Lea School
- Haringey Works
The event also provided essential information and resources for young people, including workplace support, Access to Work, and reasonable adjustments. These resources are crucial for enabling young people with SEND access employment.
A total of 95 people registered for the event, and we aim to have even more attendees next year to provide young people with SEND positive opportunities and access to employment.
