Tiverton Primary School
September 2022
Tiverton is a highly diverse and inclusive school in Tottenham. We have a wide range of languages and cultures represented in the school and therefore we work hard to ensure that we provide all our pupils with learning experiences that will be accessible and meaningful to them.
We know the importance of developing our children’s speech, language and communication skills to ensure they reach their educational, social and indeed life potential! Consequently, this is a huge focus at Tiverton. The experienced staff in our Early Years provision carry out the ‘Early Talk Boost’, ‘Attention Autism’ and ‘Neli’ interventions and any children with suspected speech and language needs are identified as soon as possible and referred to our school’s linked NHS Speech and Language Therapist.
Further up the school a variety of other speech and language-based interventions are run by staff members including Lego Therapy, Narrative Group and the Speech Link programme.
To put their language skills to the test, children at Tiverton are also encouraged to be part of many different groups such as the School Council, Eco Club and Peer Mediators, all of which promote the importance of being good language role models. Our pupils leave Tiverton as articulate, confident and resilient young people.
